Betas are versions of the game that are tested prior to release. Players need to sign up to participate in Beta Tests. There are two possible methods for obtaining a beta test qualification:
- Regular Recruitment: Players can click the SIGN UP button in the top-right corner at the official website for a chance to enter the first closed beta test. This does not guarantee acceptance into the beta test.
- Events: Players can participate in events where event winners may win a beta test qualification. Some of these events are contests where the best event submissions will win. Other events are giveaways, where random event participants will be selected as winners.
- The list of events that offer beta test qualifications can be found in each version page in the List of Closed Beta Tests section below.

- End of Tuning Test (CBT1) — present
- November 3, 2022: Soukaku was officially introduced.[1]
- September 17, 2022: A promotional video including gameplay footage, "Just Another Day at the Video Store | TGS 2022 Special Debut Video", was shown at TGS 2022.
- September 15, 2022: Ben was officially introduced.[2]
- September 8, 2022: Zenless Zone Zero was confirmed for TGS 2022.
- September 1, 2022: Anton was officially introduced.[3]
- August 18, 2022: Koleda was officially introduced.[4]
- Game Announcement — End of Tuning Test (CBT1)
- August 8, 2022: The Tuning Test officially ended.
- August 6, 2022: The end date for the Tuning Test was announced for August 8, 2022 at 23:59:59 (UTC+)[5]
- August 4, 2022: The Tuning Test started and the third trailer, "Don't Mess Up Your First Commission | Zenless Zone Zero Tuning Test Trailer", was published.[6]
- August 3, 2022: A notification that the Tuning Test will start soon was issued.[7]
- August 2, 2022: It was announced that all notifications of Tuning Test qualifications had been issued. Anyone who had not received an email was not accepted into the beta test.[8]
- July 27, 2022: Recruitment for the Tuning Test (CBT1) ended.
- July 27, 2022: The last event offering beta test qualification ended.
- July 22, 2022: Von Lycaon was officially introduced along with some more information about Victoria Housekeeping.[9][10]
- July 21, 2022: The start date for the Tuning Test (CBT1) was officially announced for August 5th, 2022 and it was announced that recruitment will end on July 27th 2022.[11]
- July 14, 2022: Corin Wickes was officially introduced along with some information about Victoria Housekeeping.[12][13]
- July 8, 2022: Nekomiya Mana was officially introduced.[14]
- July 1, 2022: The third volume of the New Eridu Settlers Guide — The Bangboo was published.[15]
- June 16, 2022: The second official sticker set "Cunning Hares Everyday Life (Part 2)" was published.[16]
- June 23, 2022: The game's protagonists, Wise and Belle, were officially introduced.[17]
- June 16, 2022: The first official sticker set "Cunning Hares Everyday Life (Part 1)" was published.[18]
- June 10, 2022: Soldier 11 was officially introduced.[19]
- June 9, 2022: The second trailer, "3, 2, 1... 11 | Z·Z·Z Brand New Combat Trailer", was published.
- June 8, 2022: Summer Game Fest announced that they will show a new trailer for Zenless Zone Zero.[20]
- June 4, 2022: The second volume of the New Eridu Settlers Guide — The City Life was published.[21]
- May 26, 2022: Billy Kid was officially introduced.[22]
- May 20, 2022: The first volume of the New Eridu Settlers Guide — Survive in A Hollow was published.[23]
- May 19, 2022: Nicole Demara was officially introduced.[24]
- May 14, 2022: Anby Demara was officially introduced.[25]
- May 12, 2022: The first event that awarded a beta test qualification opened.[26]
- May 12, 2022: Regular recruitment for the first closed beta test opened. No start date for the test was announced.[27]
- May 12, 2022: The first trailer, "Welcome to New Eridu — Where Humanity Rises Anew!", was published.
- May 7, 2022: The game was announced with a link to a teaser site containing a countdown to May 12th.[28]
