Gameplay

Inky can initially be found in various places within Sixth Street, most often at Evening or Late Night. While players are given the option to pet it, Inky will be wary and will react negatively to contact. To earn its trust, players should choose the option to watch Inky from a distance.

After a sufficient amount of Trust has been established, and upon unlocking Chapter 2 Interlude, Soldier 11 will message the player to meet at her usual meeting spot at the roads behind the Godfinger arcade, where players can encounter Soldier 11 together with Inky. This encounter doubles as a Trust Event for Soldier 11, and it will hint at players needing to feed Inky. The next in-game day, the player can visit 141 Convenience Store and talk to Jonah and Roy, then talk to the Bangboos to unlock Seafish Canned Cat Food at the store. Up to 10 cans of cat food can be bought from the store per real-time week, with stocks replenishing at the weekly refresh.

By this point, players will have the option to feed Inky cat food, alongside petting it. The dialogue leading to its interaction will hint at the proper response needed to earn Inky's trust. Typically, most dialogues ending in "Maybe it's...?", will have a Trust increase upon feeding it, although this rule does not apply to all options (see Inky/Dialogue for specific options). If the dialogue is "Perhaps it's...?", players should pet Inky for a Significant Trust increase. Note that choosing to Pet it with the wrong prompt will result in a decrease in Trust, whereas feeding it with the wrong prompt or not having any Cat Food on hand will simply result in Inky not eating the food with no change to Trust.

At a high enough Trust level, Inky may sometimes be found among several other cats. Players can choose to either play with the other cats, or feed Inky, with the latter option providing the most increase in Trust.

Once Inky's trust level reaches a certain level, a Trust Event with Soldier 11 at the back alleys will be available, which when completed will raise Inky's trust to Friendly.

Friendly

At Friendly rank, Inky can be fed or petted as usual, but the prompts for the appropriate response will change.

• If the dialogue includes "Me-ow...!", players should feed Inky cat food.
• If the dialogue has "Meow~ Purr~ Purrr~", players can pet Inky.

Sufficiently raising Inky's Trust level will initiate another Trust Event with Soldier 11 about feeding Inky. Complete this event to raise Inky's Trust rank to Close.

Close

Getting Inky to this rank will unlock a new interaction where Inky will play Hide and Seek. It will hide in one of several places within Sixth Street, and once found players can interact with Inky to raise its Trust. Inky may sometimes ask to play some more upon being found, which will lead to another round where players need to find Inky again. Completing both rounds will greatly increase Inky's Trust level.

Trusted

The day after reaching maximum Trust, the player will receive a message from Soldier 11 to meet up at night. She will ask the Proxy to help her adopt Inky and keep it with them. This will open a naming prompt to rename Inky to a name of the player's choice. This name cannot be changed in a later time and will replace all instances of "Inky," Partner Archive included. The morning after, the cat can be found lying on the sofas on the left of the entrance of the Video Store or sitting on the counter. Once adopted, it can still be fed canned cat food and trigger trust increase.
