Assist, also known as Assist Attack, is the collective name used by a variety of Agent Skills and the type of attacks that those skills will perform in battle. The Assist skill-type comprises Quick Assists, Defensive Assists, Evasive Assists, and Assist Follow-Ups.
Overview[]
During combat, the player can press/tap the Assist icon () to have another Agent in the squad switch in, replacing the Agent who is currently on-field. Provided that there is no incoming enemy attack, this can be performed freely and will not consume any Assist Points. Furthermore, the order in which an Agent will switch in via this method will follow the team's setup, going from left to right.
Upon entering into combat the player will have a total of 6 available Assist Points. When the player triggers a Perfect Assist, an amount of Assist Points will be consumed, with the amount varying based on the incoming attack's strength and the Agent who is assisting's characteristics.[Note 1] After consuming all 6 Assist Points, the player will no longer be able to activate assists, and must perform Chain Attacks or Ultimates, with each activation of said skills regenerating 1 Assist Point.
When an Agent activates an Assist Skill, they will become invulnerable for the duration of the skill.
Perfect Assist[]
When an enemy launches an attack, it may have a gold flashing effect, in which case the player can press/tap in order to switch to the next Agent and launch a Perfect Assist.
Perfect Assist is itself a collective name, referring either to Defensive Assist, or Evasive Assist, depending on the Agent in question.
Defensive Assist[]
Defensive Assists are typically held by Agents that wield melee weapons. Triggering a Defensive Assist will parry or block an enemy's attack, interrupting them, while also accumulating a significant amount of Daze on them.
Some enemies, like the Dead End Butcher, are able to cancel the Assist Follow-Up of the Agent who has parried them. This is signified by the screen turning black and glitching for a bit after the Agent parries the attack. Usually, after performing an Assist Follow-Up cancelling attack, the enemy will usually follow up with a non-Assist Follow-Up cancelling attack, or at least chain until it reaches the aforementioned non-Assist Follow-Up cancelling attack.

Evasive Assist[]
Evasive Assists are typically held by Agents that do not wield melee weapons. Triggering an Evasive Assist will cause the Agent to dodge out of the way of the incoming attack, while also activating Vital View.

Quick Assist[]
Quick Assists are typically triggered when an Agent is launched, knocked-back, or staggered. When this happens, the icon may flash red, indicating that the next Agent's Quick Assist can be triggered. However, some Agents possess skills that can automatically trigger other Agents' Quick Assists, with some of said skills also reversing the assist order from left-to-right, to instead be right-to-left.

Assist Follow-Up[]
Assist Follow-Up (techincally Perfect Assist Follow-Up) is a subtype of Assist an Agent performs after the activation of a Perfect Assist, be it Evasive or Defensive. To activate, the player must use a Basic Attack () immediately after the Perfect Assist. The Assist Follow-Up will deal the Agent's respective Attribute DMG.
